Here we go with another breakdown of stats that no one but me cares about!!! Now, what were our goals? A minimum of 200 books with a minimum of 100 read by me, 50 read by Vampire Kitten, 25 read by Lone Wolf, 13 books read by with Little Legs, and 12 books read as a family. We surpassed these goals!
Total Books Read: 340
Total Number of Books Read as a Family: 16
Broken Down By Person
Little Legs: 49
Lone Wolf: 50
Vampire Kitten: 107
Wandering Falcon: 118
Now, more interesting stats
Graphic Novels Total Read: 136
Total Number of Graphic Novels Read as a Family: 0
Broken Down By Person
Little Legs: 3
Lone Wolf: 28
Wandering Falcon: 39
Vampire Kitten: 66
Chapter Books Total Read: 204
Total Number of Chapter Books Read as a Family: 16
Broken Down By Person
Lone Wolf: 22
Vampire Kitten: 41
Little Legs: 46
Wandering Falcon: 79
This year chapter books won by a landslide! Last year's count was slightly different as Family did not have its own category. But from a rough glance I read roughly the same number of books as last year and Vampire Kitten read more! Little Legs and I read WAY more books together then we did last year. I've already decided that next year we are going to do something completely different.
The "awards":
Most Books Read: Wandering Falcon with 118
Most Graphic Novels Read: Vampire Kitten with 66
Most Chapter Books Read: Wandering Falcon with 79

200 books: december
Final month! Well, final half month. And, my final post for the year. This year I am ending a little bit early as my boys are going away for Christmas to visit their father. And next year's book goals will be slightly different. I figure to resume blogging around January 5th or 6th, so I will talk about our goals then. Until then, here are the last books for this year!
(Note: there are no chapter books listed for me and Little Legs because we read story books all month)

200 books: october 2019
So as disappointed as I am that we only read 13 books for the month, the irony of this taking place in the month of October is not lost on me. This is the time of year where very little reading gets done. There is too much going on between Halloween. Little Legs' birthday, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. Everything will wind down until January, when reading rates spike again. Also, Lone Wolf is reading harder books so it takes him longer to finish them. And Vampire Kitten is in the middle of tackling a few harder books himself. So even though this number isnt high, it is a good number.

200 books: august 2019
I didn't intend to take the month of August off from blogging, but so much was going on between summer plans and home remodeling plans and life in general that it just happened. However, hopefully I will get back on track now. First up is this post catching you up on all of our reading goals. Next up is a post about the "Notebook of Doom" books that Little Legs and I read together. Then there is a special guest blog post by Lone Wolf - he really struggled with it but he did good. Then we will move on to the next "Warriors" book that I have been reading. Following that will be some posts about the Warriors series I have read - which is an idea I should have explored long ago. If there is any time left after that, I will move on to the next "Wings of Fire" book. We shall have to see. All in all I see a pretty busy blogging month ahead of me!
A note about August: I am only 1 book away for reaching my goal for the year! Very annoying! Also, Vampire Kitten is only 10 books away from doubling his goal. I forgot to mention last month that Little Legs had more then doubled his reading goal, so I want to give a shout out about that now. He is also only 2 books away from tripling his goal! We should have that done the first week of September, so long as no disasters strike. Anyway, onto the books!

200 books: may 2019
So Little Legs and I met his goal for books (which wasn't hard as he only needed one more). So now all three kids are past their goal, which is awesome! I'm only 27 books away from my goal, which is incredible since we are five months into the and I am almost at the 75% point.
The one area we are seriously slacking is family reading, so I told my kids that I think that needs to be our main focus for June. We are still struggling to find the time to finish the next Sisters Grimm book and I think we need to make that a priority (as well as reading an extra book or two) since everyone but me is in excess of their goal. Unfortunately we did not get an opportunity to family read today since Little Legs is pretty sick so I have been busy with that...
Anyway, onto May's books and our impressive stats!

200 books: april 2019
So this month was a little disappointing - but like I said it was a bad cold followed by the stomach bug followed by a fever followed by the stomach bug again with Easter thrown in. So I think it's okay that this month had a disappointing turn out (for everyone except Vampire Kitten who crushed it).
Vampire Kitten met his goal. Little Legs fell one short (there was a lot of sleeping and stomach clutching going on), and I am 60% of the way along. No family books were read and Lone Wolf has no where but up to go. So, despite our lack of reading this month we did do pretty good.

200 books: march 2019
Shout out to Lone Wolf who met his goal for the year this month!!! I wanted him to have the goal of 50 books but he argued that since he had moved past easy chapter books and was reading harder books he should have an easier goal. He has been alternating between Percy Jackson and Wings of Fire and we figured if he read two a month that would be 24 books a year, so he picked the goal of 25. He has not read 25 Percy Jackson and Wings of Fire books (I'm not even sure if there are 25 books in the two series total) but he has mainly focused on those with some graphic novels here and there. He met his goal in three months and I am proud of him!
Meanwhile, Vampire Kitten is only 8 books short and Little Legs is only 3 books short, both of which are also incredibly impressive since it is only March. I haven't totaled up April yet so I don't know if they met there goal yet or not. As for me, I reached the halfway point which is also impressive. All in all March has been a good month for reading!
As for family books we are lagging but we are working on it. I am determined we reach 12 by the end of the year - even if it means we do nothing but read some weekends!
April update in a few days. Now onto March.

200 books: february 2019
So, where have I been? I needed a break from blogging (the rest of February), which then turned into needing some more time off (all of March), which then turned into a nasty cold followed by the stomach bug followed by a weird fever followed by the stomach bug again with Easter thrown in there too (April). It was crazy. Either way, here I am now. And back with a new book series, too. I've been giving "Wings of Fire" a closer look. But anyway, that is not what this post is about. Before I get to the list and the stats I want to take a moment and say BOTH Vampire Kitten and Lone Wolf have reached the halfway mark, AND that Little Legs fell one book short of the halfway mark. I am only a third of the way along, and our family goal is only one sixth of the way along, however, overall, we are only three books short of the halfway point. All in all a pretty impressive month, I do have to say. Anyway, on to February.

I can't believe we read as much as we did! We beat January 2018 and May 2018, which had held the title of most books in a month ever with 45. What a way to start off our year! Now I'm sure to counteract this we will probably read almost nothing in February.

200 books & reading goals
I went back and read my original post about doing 100 books today. I think I should have read that when I did our final post for the year! Holy cow! What a difference! To think I was actually worried that I wouldn't reach 25 books (which I did by May) and that we as a family would't reach 100 books (which we did by April)!
Well, this year we set different goals. Actually, we decided to do away with the family goal and just set individual goals:
(1) My goal is to read 100 books
(2) Vampire Kitten's goal is to read 50 books
(3) Lone Wolf's goal is to read 25 books
(4) Little Legs has the goal of reading 13 books with me
(5) And we have the goal to read 12 books as a family
This gives us an overall goal of 200 books, but we won't actually reach our goal unless we meet the five mini goals. There will also be prizes in categories like we did last year as well as prizes for meeting our individual goals (and even doubling our goals if we manage to).
So why is it broken down like this?
Every time we were close to a multiple of 100 last year I sort of pushed everyone to read as much as they could. I don't regret that action, it helped us reach 315 books after all, but it did create a sense of pressure. This year we don't want pressure to constantly do better, we just want to read and enjoy reading. And while a small part of me wants to challenge the family to aim for 350, another part of me doesn't.
I have a nice, reasonable, goal of 100 - which is only slightly under what I read last year. Vampire Kitten has a reasonable goal too with 50. Yes, it is half of last years amount, but it is easily obtainable and he should have no problem doubling it - and if he doesn't that is okay too. Lone Wolf's is a very low goal, but lately he has been reading much harder books which take him far longer to read. So really, in light of that, his goal is very fair. Little Legs and I will hopefully read one book a month at a minimum - and I certainly hope we will double or triple this goal. But again, if we don't, it is not the end of the world. If he wants me to read him Peppa Pig and Pete the Cat instead I am not going to tell him no.Lastly, 12 as a family, that is the one I am worried about. We have a hard time setting aside time for family reading. That is something we will have to work on. But, this is why we make goals!
Now I know I promised the potential awards for 2019, but we are still undecided on some of them. All I know for sure is we will do Most Total Books Read, Most Chapter Books Read, and Most Graphic Novels Read. Everything else is up in the air.
More tomorrow when I finally sit down and compile our book list for the month! I can't wait to see how we did!
